FloatCam respects your privacy. This policy explains how FloatCam handles information while providing a local camera preview overlay for macOS.

1. Product Purpose

FloatCam is a camera preview overlay tool. It shows your front camera on screen so your face can be captured when you record with the macOS system recorder, QuickTime, or another screen capture tool.

FloatCam does not provide screen recording, video upload, cloud sync, or user accounts.

2. Camera Permission, Face Data, and Preview Content

To show the camera preview, FloatCam needs permission to access your camera on macOS. Camera permission is managed by macOS, and you can disable or change it at any time in System Settings.

The preview may display your face on your own screen. FloatCam uses camera access only to render this live preview locally.

FloatCam does not collect, record, store, upload, analyze, sell, or share face data, including camera frames, face images, biometric identifiers, biometric templates, or face-derived data.
  • Use: Camera frames are used only on your Mac to show the preview window. FloatCam does not use face data for recognition, tracking, profiling, analytics, advertising, or machine learning training.
  • Storage, sharing, and retention: Face data is not sent to developer servers or third parties and is not retained. Camera frames exist only temporarily in memory while the preview is active.

3. Information Saved Locally

To keep the app experience consistent, FloatCam may save necessary settings locally on your Mac, such as:

  • Preview window size.
  • Preview window corner radius ratio.
  • Other display-related preferences.

These settings are used to restore your preferences the next time you open the app. They do not include camera frames, face images, biometric identifiers, biometric templates, or face-derived data.

4. Screen Recording Content

FloatCam does not control your screen recording files. Recording, saving, exporting, and sharing are handled by the macOS recording tool, QuickTime, or other capture software you choose to use.

If you record your screen while the FloatCam preview is visible, the recording may include the preview image. That file is created, stored, retained, and shared by your chosen recording tool, not by FloatCam.

Before recording or sharing video that includes another person's voice, image, screen content, or copyrighted material, make sure you have the necessary rights and consent.

5. Website and Support Email

When you visit this website, the hosting service may process routine technical information such as request time, browser type, IP address, and access logs. This information is typically used by hosting infrastructure for security, diagnostics, and traffic statistics.

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address, message content, and any attachments or device information you choose to provide. We use this information only to respond to and handle your support request.

6. Third-Party Services

FloatCam may be distributed through the Apple App Store and relies on macOS to provide camera permission and window capabilities. Apple may process information related to downloads, purchases, crash diagnostics, or system permissions according to its own policies.

Except for services necessary to provide app distribution, system permissions, and website hosting, we do not sell your personal information.

7. Children's Privacy

FloatCam does not knowingly collect personal information from children who lack the required capacity to consent. If you believe a child's information was submitted by mistake, please contact us.

8. Policy Updates and Contact

We may update this privacy policy when product features, legal requirements, or service methods change. The latest version will be published on this page.
